Find out more about Bearhouse Alpacas

Bearhouse Alpacas started back in 2002 when Richard bought the original field here at Sandcombe Wood, outside Sidbury in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. He saw alpacas at the Bath and West Show and was struck by their charm and easy-going nature. After investigating alpaca keeping, he bought a small starter herd as lawnmowers. By the time Pippa and Richard met in 2009 there was more land and even more alpacas!

Together they developed the business and in 2011 Bearhouse Alpacas won The Best Small Breeder award at the Devon County Show.

After success with breeding and selling alpacas across the UK and Europe, in 2014 they started their alpaca trekking experience which has gone from strength to strength and is extremely popular with locals and holidaymakers alike.

In 2018 planning permission was granted to build an eco-friendly log cabin in a perfect spot on the farm overlooking the Roncombe Valley. Sitting on the decking with a cup of tea is a perfect end to our alpaca trekking experience.
